Propagation:

The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow III medium available at abm. to a final concentration of 10%, 1X L-glutamine , 1 µM dexamethason (Sigma), 10 µg/mL insulin, 5.5 µg/mL transferrin, 6.7 ng/mL selenium-X (ITS mix, Life Technology), and Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution to a final concentration of 1%.
Change media every 2-3 days.
Carbon dioxide (CO₂): 5%, Temperature: 37.0°C.

Quality Control:

1. qRT-PCR for hTERT expression.
2. cBAL111 clone continued to proliferate whereas primary cells senescenced in culture.
3. Immunostaining conducted showed cells are positive for hepatic markers albumin, glutamin synthetase and cytokeratin 18, and positive for cholangiocyte marker cytokeratin 19.
