Description

abm | Immortalized Mouse Olfactory Bulb Cells (OBC1) | T0235

Immortalized Mouse Olfactory Bulb Cells (OBC1) is immortalized with non-replicating retrovirus carrying the avian Myc gene. The cells exhibit NF (neurofilament) and GalC (a marker for oligodendroglial lineage) markers. OBC1 cells have been shown to form tumors in animal models, hence has the ability to be tumorigenic. It is a valuable in vitro tool for studies relating to the functions and the biology of the olfactory bulb.

The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow III medium available at abm . To make the completed growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to final concentration of 10%, 0.3 mg/ml G418 (G271), and Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution to a final concentration of 1%.
Carbon dioxide (CO2): 5%, Temperature: 37.0°C.
abm does not recommend to use heat-inactivated FBS for cell culture unless specified otherwise.

Quality Control:

1) Resistance to 0.3 mg/ml G418, 2) Southern or Northern blot analysis of the viral integration site, 3) immunocytochemical analysis for markers
