Description

abm | Immortalized Mouse Olfactory Bulb Cells (OBL21) | T0238

Immortalized Mouse Olfactory Bulb Cells (OBL21) is immortalized with non-replicating retrovirus carrying the avian Myc gene. These cells are multipotent and were selected for in the presence of G418. They express neuronal markers such as neurofilament (NF), tetanus toxin (TT), and A2B5, and have the presence of sodium channels. OBL21 cells are non-tumorigenic and have similar morphology to the primary cells. It is a valuable in vitro tool for studies relating to the functions and the biology of the olfactory bulb.

Propagation:

Grow cells in Poly-L-Lysine (TM061)-coated flasks with the following conditions. The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow III medium available at abm . To make the completed growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to final concentration of 10%, 0.3 mg/ml G418 (G271), and Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution to a final concentration of 1%.
Carbon dioxide (CO2): 5%, Temperature: 37.0°C.
abm does not recommend to use heat-inactivated FBS for cell culture unless specified otherwise.

Quality Control:

1) Resistance to 0.3 mg/ml G418, 2) Southern or Northern blot analysis of the viral integration site, 3) immunocytochemical analysis for markers
