Lack of Sirt7 is associated with reduced recruitment of DNMT1 and Sirt1 at rRNA genes leading to hyperacetylation of histones, reduced DNA methylation, fragmentation of the nucleolar structure and loss of rDNA repeats leading to an increased spontaneous immortalization of primary mouse embryonic fibroblasts.
